(LANGHORNE) May26 -- Two extremely loud military A-10 Warthogs did a tree-top flyover during Monday's Langhorne Memorial Day Parade, causing some of the thousands of people in attendance to dive for cover.
The jets, the same kind the US Military uses to rout and destroy Taliban and terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, arrived out of the east around 10:20 a.m., and zoomed off toward Newtown after what seemed like about a half-second at treetop level over downtown Langhorne.
Many in the crowd at first seemed unaware of why the jets were so low, until it dawned on them that the flyover was part of the Memorial Day celebration. Several children could be heard half crying due to the loud jet wash.
Just prior to the flyover, the crowd listened silently as numerous Bucks County dignitaries paid tribute to fallen hero's of the past. The ceremony, which took place near East Richardson Avenue, included a 21-gun salute to a flag flown at half mast.
Those in attendance included Bucks County District Attorney Michelle Henry, Middletown Township Safety Director Frank Farry, Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley, former US Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick, the Mayor of Langhorne, state Rep. Chris King, and a variety of others.
The Neshaminy Marching Band also participated in the parade, along with numerous local Fire Departments, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and Garden Clubs.
